Frank Rust

Frank Rust, 87, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer February 2, 2015 at his home in Turlock, CA. Frank, the son of Benjamin C. and Myrtle A. Rust, was born in Lubbock, Texas March 5, 1927. He was preceded in death by Naomi G. Rust (Teddy), his loving wife of 69 years. Frank is survived by his brother Marvin (Lewis) Rust of Conway, AR, three daughters; Kathaleen Sivils of Turlock, CA, Geri Mirko of Payson, AZ, and Frankie Bundgard of Hilmar, CA. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, including 3 foster grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren. Frank, a very loving husband, father and grandfather, married his love, Naomi, March 11, 1945. Later that same year, he served our country in the United States Army during WWII. He served a one year tour in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign as a Sergeant in the 1777 Engineer Construction Battalion. After his service, Frank and Teddy built their house in Turlock, CA and raised their family of 3 girls and a few neighbor kids who were always around their house. Frank supported his family as a truck driver until his retirement in 1989. After retirement, his love of being on the road continued as he traveled with his wife, kids, and grandkids with many adventures to places all over the country in their 5th wheel. He organized many RV campouts with the church and was known as the “wagon master”. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, tinkering with old cars, and especially, spoiling his kids and grandkids. Frank loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all of his heart. He instilled those values in his children and grandchildren. He was a great example to all who knew and loved him, of how a man of God was to live his life. He served many years, at various capacities, in the Turlock Free Methodist Church where he was a member for over 69 years. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm on Friday, February 6th at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd. in Turlock. A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 7th also at Turlock Funeral Home, with Pastors Henry Raven and Kevin Heppner officiating, followed by burial with military honors at Turlock Memorial Park. A reception will follow all services for family and friends. You will be greatly missed Grandpa!
