Maura Rojas

Maura Rojas, age 99, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family, on Friday December 3, 2021, at her home in Turlock, CA. She was born November 21, 1922, in Modesto, CA to Apolinar and Lus Rojas. Maura grew up in Hughson, CA and moved to Turlock in 1939 to a house on High Street built by her father where she resided for most of her adult life. Maura was a hard-worker who worked to support her family at Rogers Foods, Puchanelli’s and Tri-Valley cannery. At the age of 62, Maura retired from Tri-Valley and spent her retirement years as a caregiver for her mother, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Maura loved to cook for family and friends. Her door was always open with a hot meal awaiting her guests. She especially loved having “Thursday Lunch” where all family and friends would stop in throughout the day for a tasty meal and great company. Homemade tortillas were her specialty, particularly leading her to be known as the fastest tortilla maker of High Street. One of Maura’s greatest traits was her quick wit and sense of humor. She could always make you laugh, whether she was laughing at you or, of course, with you. She loved dancing, listening to country music, spending time with her family, and caring for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Maura was a devoted Catholic who loved deeply. We take comfort in knowing she is now at peace and with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents Apolinar and Lus Rojas, brother Michael Rojas, sisters Sophia Rodriguez and Tomasa Hines, son Johnny Campos, daughters Sandra Naranjo and Rosie Edeal, grandson Jody Campos, and granddaughter Brooke Fagundes. She is survived by her brother Abe Rojas (Sharon), sister Chona Naranjo, children Louie Campos, Richard Campos (Christy), Larry Naranjo, Nancy Vazquez, and Sandra Fagundes, 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind an abundance of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. A Funeral service will be held Friday, December 10, 2021, at 2:00PM at Turlock Funeral Home 425 N. Soderquist Rd. Turlock. She will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park. Celebration of life to follow.
