Diane M. Silva

Diane Marie Silva entered into heavenly rest at the age of 41 on Monday, January 29th, 2024 after a courageous six-year battle with breast cancer. Diane was born on August 25, 1982 in Fremont, CA to Richard and Sandra Durand. Her formative years were spent in Tracy, CA. She attended Bohn Elementary, Williams Middle School, and Tracy High School class of 2000. After graduating high school in 2000, she attended Stanislaus State and graduated with a B.A. in Liberal Studies. Diane worked as an educator for 18 years. Over the span of her teaching career, she taught 2nd Grade at Traina Elementary. In Fall of 2021 she transitioned to teach TK at Traina Elementary, with daughter Isabela in her first TK class, and in Fall 2023 at Hawkins TK Campus. She had a passion for teaching, and enjoyed creating and crafting new projects for her students and even designed the Husky Pup logo for the new Hawkins TK Campus. She formed a strong bond and friendship with many of her colleagues and enjoyed spending time with them inside and outside of the classroom. On June 9, 2012, Diane married the love of her life, Michael J. Silva, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Turlock, CA. Together they have two beautiful daughters, Juliana and Isabela. Diane’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She loved attending and cheering on her daughters at various events especially at their LUSO performances and Festas. Diane enjoyed celebrating Portuguese Religious celebrations especially marching alongside her daughters as they represented Queen St. Isabella for the Holy Spirit Festa, and the shepherd children for the Our Lady of Fatima Festa. Diane also enjoyed going camping, spending time at the beach, and travelling. She liked listening to Christian and country music, especially Martina McBride, her favorite singer. She enjoyed watching her favorite team the Boston Red Sox, and often seen grabbing her favorite drink at Starbucks. Diane was strong in her Catholic faith. She prayed the Rosary often with her family and frequently tuned in to the Family Rosary Across America on Relevant Radio. She was a parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Tracy, CA and Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Turlock, CA. She was a member and served as Vice President in 2023 and was to serve as President in 2024 for the Irmandade de Nossa Senhora de Fatima of Tracy, CA; member of IPFES in Tracy, CA; member of MPPA in Modesto, CA; and member of FDES of Monterey, CA. Diane leaves behind her devoted husband, Michael J. Silva; two young, beautiful daughters, Juliana and Isabela Silva all of Tracy; loving parents, Richard and Sandra Durand of Tracy; grandmother, Marguerite Durand of Newark; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Edwina Silva of Modesto; siblings, Richard (Jennifer) Durand of Newark, Daniel (Serena) Durand of Seattle, WA, Michelle (Bobby) Metcalf of Beckville, TX, Melissa (Michael) Mariani of Antioch, Joseph (Lauren) Silva of Modesto, sister and best friend, Adrienne Rossi of Anchorage, AK; many aunts, uncles, godparents, godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and students. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard F. Durand, Eugene and Carmalita Becker, João and Maria Alice Silva, José and Maria A. Silveria, Clarinda Lacerda; aunt, Charlotte Lundberg; uncle, Joe Maldonado, and her great grandparents, great aunts, and great uncles. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Diane M. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 6:00 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Turlock Funeral Home in Turlock, CA. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Turlock Funeral Home in Turlock, CA. A rosary and mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Tracy, CA. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Turlock, CA. Committal service following the mass at Turlock Memorial Park in Turlock, CA.
