N’ombre! To know Edgar, was to know and love everything Tejano! Loud-talking, Impala loving, conjunto singing, dancing and of course barbecuing: barbecuing in the sun, barbecuing in the rain, barbecuing under the moon. It didn’t matter where he was as long as he was with his wife, Elsa, and his three children: Esteban, Ileana and Elian. The soundtrack most often played, of course, was Ramon Ayala: "Rinconcito En El Cielo" Voy a buscar, un rinconcito en el cielo, para llevar a mi Amor. Voy a buscar, un rinconcito en el cielo, para escondernos tú y yo. Un rinconcito en el cielo, juntos unido tú y yo, y cuando caiga la noche te daré mi Amor. At the age of twenty, Edgar made his way to California from Texas. Over the twenty years that followed, he built a heart-felt legacy by pouring himself into his children and family. If anyone were to ask about the Juarez children, countless stories about generosity, work ethics, athletic and academic achievements would immediately follow. Edgar distinguished himself professionally as an Industrial Refrigeration Technician for Applied Process Cooling Corporation. He serviced major industrial facilities in the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern San Joaquin Valley. His professional life only begins to tell his story. Edgar led by generous examples. In particular, he took great pride in the years he volunteered as a Hilmar Packers youth football coach. He always had an encouraging word for the players, whether he was on the field coaching, in the stands, or at the snack bar giving a player a couple of extra dollars so they could get a little extra for themselves. The football field was also where Edgar’s ability to give long-lasting nicknames often shined. Edgar also paid attention to how much fuel people were pumping at gas stations. On many occasions, he was known to fill up the gas tanks of strangers he saw in need. His connection with people working to make ends meet was a driving force when he offered the Juarez home as an on-going meeting location for members of the United Farm Workers. Edgar, you are already greatly missed. Edgar is survived by his parents Matias Juárez and Maria Elva Juárez of Edinburg, Texas. He is also survived by his brothers: Guadalupe Juárez of Houston, Texas; Matias Juárez and Benito Juárez of Edinburg, Texas; and nephews Guadalupe Juárez, Jr. and Ethan Juárez of Houston, Texas. A Viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 2, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Mar. 3 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, CA. In lieu of flowers or gifts, Edgar’s family encourages donations to Jessica’s House. Jessica’s House is a safe place for children, teens, young adults and their families to find support while grieving the death of a loved one.
