Fermina Jaramillo passed away on February 28, 2017 at the age of 78. After a long and courageous battle with cancer she passed away in her home surrounded by her family and loved ones. Fermina was born on November 11, 1939 in Jerome, Arizona to the late Mary and Jesus Garcia. She met the love of her life, Albert Jaramillo, at Coit Ranch in Mendota, CA. Fermina and Albert married soon after and moved to Fresno, CA. It was in Turlock, CA where they devoted their time to growing their family. They had four beautiful children: Jesse, Lydia, Virginia and Anthony, and Fermina took great pride in taking care of them. A stay-at-home mom, she was a fabulous cook and a wonderful homemaker. After her children were grown, Fermina joined the workforce where she worked seasonal as a USDA lab technician at Lazar Raisins and then later at Hilmar Cheese. Among her special interests, Fermina enjoyed gardening and the fresh outdoor air. She loved attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sports events and dance recitals, where she encouraged them and cheered them on. She was truly their biggest fan. She was the quintessential matriarch of the family. Family holidays and special occasions were held at her house, where one of her favorite traditions was making homemade tamales for the family. A mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend to her neighbors, Fermina was kind, beautiful, and full of life. She was the most loving person anyone has ever had the honor to call Nana. Her family was blessed to have learned so many valuable life lessons and heard so many dazzling family stories about the good ol’ days. She will truly be missed. Fermina is survived by her two brothers, John Garcia and Steve Garcia; her children, Jesse Jaramillo, Anthony Jaramillo, Lydia Nichelson, and Virginia Ramirez; her grandchildren, Albert, Jay, Cameron, Johnny, Melissa, Branden, Natalie, Jennifer, and Albert; and her great-grandchildren, Cadence, Kandi, Lennay, Akyla, Avonnie, Haley, Penelope, Aubrey, Alyssa, Adalynn, Andre, Jayden, Bryant, Ezekiel, Issac, and little Jesse. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Jesus Garcia; her husband, Albert Jaramillo; her brothers, Augustine Garcia, Ray Garcia, Gilbert Garcia, and Andy Garcia; and her great-grandchild, Austin Jaramillo. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tue., Mar. 7, at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, CA. Following the service, the Jaramillo family would like to invite you to come share some food, stories, and laughter with them at 20079 Falke St. Hilmar, CA, in Fermina’s honor.
