With great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the loss of Gustavo Verduzco Arroyo, a beloved grandfather, father, and husband. Gustavo, (89), of Turlock, CA, peacefully passed away on July 31, 2024. Gustavo was born on March 4, 1935 to Antonio Verduzco and Teresa Arroyo in Churintzio, Michoacán, Mexico. A hardworking man, Gustavo was an inspiration to many and an incredible role model for his grandchildren. From a young age, Gustavo was constantly on the move. Always eager to work and engage in physical activity, his family recounts one of his favorites being mowing the lawn and leaving not just his area but the whole neighborhood clean and in bloom. With a sawmill operating career at Sierra Pacific Industries in Sonora, California, Gustavo worked immensely to not only provide for his family but for others in need as well. His commitment and dedication to the many years of hard work never once went unnoticed and even still, as he gradually became more fragile over the years, his determination to keep moving and pushing forward never faltered. Gustavo was a selfless and kind man, always putting others and their needs before his own. He gave to others without ever expecting anything in return (except perhaps a can of Pepsi, he could never say no to that). Gustavo did everything for his family and provided for them in the best way that he could. One of the greatest gifts he possessed and shared with others; however, was his humor and contagious laughter. He never failed to make those around him laugh with his quick-wit comments and jokes. He might have been a quiet man, but, boy, did he leave a loud impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him. Gustavo was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Verduzco and Teresa Arroyo; his siblings, Paz Verduzco, Francisco Verduzco, Heliodoro Verduzco, Medardo Verduzco, and Luis Verduzco. He is survived by his siblings, Antonio Verduzco, Juan Verduzco, and Guillermo Verduzco; as well as his wife, Maria del Socorro Pulido Verduzco; his daughters, Maria Magdalena Verduzco Perez (Jose Angel Perez) and Patricia Verduzco Mendez. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Gustavo Perez, Jarely Perez, Patty Mendez, Ximena Perez, Maritza Mendez, Melissa Mendez, Cristian Perez, and Jorge Mendez. A visitation will be held at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, CA 95380, on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A funeral Mass in honor of Gustavo Verduzco Arroyo will take place on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1200 Lyons Ave., Turlock, CA 95380. Following the Mass, a burial will take place at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, CA 95380. We take comfort in knowing that Gustavo has found eternal peace in the loving embrace of our Lord. His faith was a guiding light, and his devotion an inspiration to us all. As we say our goodbyes, we trust in God’s promise of everlasting life and hold onto hope that we will be reunited in His heavenly kingdom. May Gustavo Verduzco Arroyo rest in His eternal grace.
