Harvey Jantz, a man that continues to touch our lives with his positivity, passed away with his loved ones by his side at the age of 74. He was the first born of seven to Walter and Marie Jantz, and spent his youth growing up in Livingston and Ballico on a farm where his family raised a variety of livestock. From a young age, he had always taken an interest in music, whether that was playing the guitar, harmonica, or singing along to some of his favorite Johnny Cash songs with his father and brothers. Singing was one of the many ways that he brightened up a room. Always very social, Harvey enjoyed spending time with friends, playing cards, and sharing good conversation over a cup of coffee. He was a devoted husband of 54 years to his loving wife, Alice Hernandez and blessed with four boys. Living in Turlock throughout his entire adult life, Harvey spent 25 years selling tires for Valley Tire Sales in Modesto and went on to teach second grade at Cunningham Elementary School. Harvey loved taking road trips with his wife, sons, and friends, especially where camping and fishing were involved. He continued to be extremely present in his grandchildren’s lives: attending soccer games, music recitals, and graduations. He loved to make breakfast and bake cookies for the family, especially when he was able to add peanut butter. If ever there was any doubt, we knew we would find him with his hand in the cookie jar and a couple of cookies in his pockets too! Whatever task he took on, he accomplished with hard work and enthusiasm – one of the many reasons we admired him. One of his most positive attributes was his ability to extend a hand of kindness to everyone he came into contact with through his ability and willingness to strike up a conversation everywhere he went. Even as time got the best of him, his spirit never faded as he continued to look ahead with a positive attitude. The unconditional love, partnership, and friendship you have given us will live in our hearts forever. Harvey is survived by his wife, Alice and four sons: Shawn, Rory, Darin, and Brent Jantz; his siblings: Richard and Judy Jantz, Joyce and Mel Alldrin, Phyllis and Richard Cancimilla, and Susan Klaproth; and his grandchildren: Kaila, Devan, and Lauren Jantz and Mariah Collins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Marie Jantz; his brother, Stan Jantz; and his sister, Darlene Jantz. A Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12th, followed by a Funeral service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13th. Both services will be held at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N.
