Jing Ow

Jing Ow, age 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Jing is survived by his loving wife Virginia, daughter Debbie Ezaki and husband Mel, son Donald and wife Debbie, sons David and Dennis. He was the proud grandfather of Kristin Ow Chapman and husband John Chapman, Kara, Kori and Kayln Ow and Trevor and Devin Ezaki. He is also survived by his sisters Mabel Chong and MaryYoung and brother Guy Gong and wife Nancy. Jing was born September 1, 1936 in Canton, China to Jue Ow and Hall Shee and immigrated to America as a young child. He lived in Merced, CA and Hanford, CA where he grew up attended local schools and worked in his familys laundry. He moved to Turlock, CA when he was 16 to help his family open and run National Market. Jing married Virginia Lee in 1957, and together they have worked tirelessly to provide for the family serving, visiting and sharing their lives with their many friends and customers. Jing was a long time member of the Fah Yuen Benevolent Association of San Francisco, CA serving the Chinese community throughout San Francisco, the Central Valley and the Fah Yuen district in China. Jing was a faithful brother of the Turlock Masonic Lodge #395 for 50 years serving in various positions in the order. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and the Shriners Club in Oakland and Turlock. Jing was a quiet but contact source of support and was happy to contribute to many Turlock organizations throughout the years including Turlock Youth Sports Programs, several Boy and Girl Scout Troupes, countless Turlock School activities and Turlocks Junior Miss program. One of the highlights of this year was helping to organize the Turlock Community Christmas baskets in the back rooms of National Market and he was honored to be the recipient for the Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Turlock Rotary Club for Community Service. He also received the lifetime achievement award from the Stanislaus Groceries association. Jing was a man of great intelligence, generosity, and kindness. He had a warm sense of humor and always had a good story to share though his greatest joy was to brag about his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and was known to be a sharp poker player. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was especially proud of obtaining his pilots license, but it was the friendships that he shared while relaxing with friends and family that he cherished most. He enjoyed traveling together with his wife, children, and their grandchildren to many places including Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, and to his home village in China, providing them with may fond memories He will always be remembered for his deep and committed love to his family and affection for his friends. Jing was a special husband: father, grandfather and friend, and he will be greatly missed by those who love him. The family is thankful for the tireless support, encouragement, patience, and service from the doctors, nurses and staff from Emanuel Hospital of Turlock, Emanuel Medical Plaza, Family Medical Practice of Turlock and The Alexander Cohen Hospice House of Hughson, the dedication and support from their employees and all the thoughts and prayers from their many family, friends and customers during this time. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at 9:00am followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am on Saturday, June 20 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd. Interment will follow at Turlock Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances may be made to Legacy Circle of Emanuel Medical Center.
