Matthew Constantino Lourenco was the firecracker in all our lives born on July 4th, 2010. He couldn’t have been born on a more fitting day. Matthew was a ball of energy and brought life to each room he burst into. Matthew’s early years we referred to him as “Moose.” He was a butterball who we all loved to squish. You would never guess that of him if you knew him today. Matthew was tall and athletic and loved all sports, especially soccer and running. Most recently he fell in love with cross country and ran for Pitman, where he broke records! He had recently made the Pitman JV Soccer Team, an accomplishment he was so incredibly proud of. Beyond sports he loved lizard hunting and fishing. He took every opportunity he had to fish. From the oceans of Maui to the Atlantic of the Azores, those fish had no idea what was coming for them! Matthew’s sweet and kind demeanor will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate to meet him, know him, and love him. Like his parents, Matthew knew no stranger. He could strike a conversation with quite literally anyone, young or old. He could sit and play with his young cousins for hours and turn around and respectfully shake the hand of a senior member of the community. His favorite treats were Avo’s homemade Portuguese sweets, more specifically her espece. We just cannot imagine our lives without our Matthew, but we find solace in knowing his parents will be there to welcome him into heaven’s gates. He leaves behind so many aching hearts but especially those of his grandparents Francisco and Mary Lourenco; Dennis and Linda McClelland; his aunts and uncles Frank and Nancy Lourenco, Elizabeth and Jeffrey Severson, Jason and Trish McClelland; and cousins Ethan, Erica and Leah Lourenco, (Sienna) Liam and Lucianna Severson and Rosemary and Julian McClelland; not to mention the MANY friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. May he rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus, his beloved mother and father and his sweet sister Mady. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Turlock Funeral Home. A recitation of the Rosary and funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Turlock, CA. Following the services, Matthew will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park.
