It is with heavy heart that the family of Maxine Younger announces her passing at her home in Turlock, CA. She was born on August 5, 1937 to Felicidade "Flossie" and Cezar Almeida in Modesto, CA. She was the beloved sister in a family of eight siblings. She is survived by: Louis Almeida (Tina), Marvelina "Marvee" Andre, of Turlock, Garrett Almeida (Cecelia), of Denair and George Almeida (Stephanie) of San Mateo, CA. and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mabel Sarmento (Frank), Maria Jorge (Al), Margo Tyree (Ralph), and brother-in-law Clarence Andre. Maxine worked for Gidding's-Corby-Lyng & Hynes, Inc. in Modesto where she met her husband, Bud Younger. She finished her career working for Stanislaus County on her 70th birthday. Maxine was the heart of her family. Hers was the home where everyone gathered around the old wooden table, where the family would enjoy memories, stories and laughter and exquisite meals contributed by everyone. Max was a chef extraordinaire in her kitchen. She made everyone feel special with their favorite dishes, one of so many ways she showed love. Her favorite thing was "doing" for her family. She was loyal and compassionate, funny, smart, brave, honest, generous, gentle and encouraging. She was fun and loved to laugh. Max lovingly and without reservation cared for her beloved Mama and her oldest sister Mabel while they were near their end. She was gentle and patient and an example of unconditional love to all who knew her. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for her whole life and she emulated her religion. She was inspiring to be around. Maxine loved staying in touch with her friends from Turlock High School and enjoyed planning get-togethers and working on the Class of '55 reunions. She attended Modesto Junior College before she began her secretarial career. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to United Samaritans, 220 S. Broadway, Turlock, CA 95380. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. and the Rosary to follow at 6 p.m. on Tues., June 21 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock. A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1200 Lyons Ave, Turlock, CA. on June 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
