Nana Bit Pera

On August 25, 2022 Nana’s greatest hope was realized when she went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Nanajan Bit Pera was born on October 26, 1924 in Urmia, Iran. Her early years were spent there where she met her husband, carpenter Shamuel Bit Pera, and they were married in February of 1941. It was in Urmia that they had three children, Clara, Edna and Abraham. They raised them in Iran until 1960, when Shamuel’s brother, Malcolm, sponsored the family to come to Philadelphia to embark on the American dream. They then moved the family to Chicago in 1966, and settled into a duplex on Windsor Avenue that became the hub for the growing family and relatives coming to America and the Chicago area. After Nanajan’s retirement in 1978, and all of the children married and settling into their lives - they decided to move to Turlock along with Shamuel’s brother and wife Youshia and Amelia BetPera. It was on Cornell Drive where they settled in and were constantly surrounded by family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nana lost her husband Shamuel in 1983, but thru her strength she held the family together, always pointing to heaven and God’s grace. When Nana needed her family she was blessed to move to Antelope to live with her daughter Clara and Jimmy Craney and she thrived there for 13 years. The last year we were all blessed to have her return to Turlock to St Thomas Care Home where she loved and was loved by all. She was a steadfast homemaker, gardener, cook and ever-loving host to both family and friends. Truly a Nana to all! Nanajan is survived by: Clara Craney (daughter), Edna (daughter) & Raymon Shomon, Abraham (son) & Sharon Pera, Laura Cerra (granddaughter), Lynn (grandaughter) & Mike Dignon, Raymon (grandson) & Sarah Shomon, Randy (grandson) & Ashley Shomon, Jonathan (grandson) & Ami Pera, Andrew (grandson) & Julie Pera, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild!
