Anthony “James” Fagundes passed away May 24, 2022 with his loving children by his side. James was born on August 16, 1947 in Turlock to Tony and Elvira Fagundes. He was raised in Hopeton, until the family moved to Chowchilla in 1969. James graduated from Fresno State in 1970, where he was an AGR Fraternity Brother. On November 25, 1972, James married the love of his life, Glenda Rae Kyle in Merced, CA. They raised three children on the family dairy. James was a lifelong dairy farmer, working until the day he died. James was a parishioner of St. Columba Catholic church in Chowchilla for numerous years. After they moved to Merced in 2005, he became a devoted parishioner of St. Patrick’s Parish. James was a proud Merced Elks member for over 50 years. He was also a member of the YMI, S.E.S., and was part of the St. John's Hopeton Festa committee from a young man, and served as their president for a year. James also served a term as a director on the Madera District Fair Board. James is survived by his children: daughter Alyson (John) Lasgoity, daughter Marcie (Matthew) Schnoor, and son Anthony (Julie) Fagundes. He is also survived by his ten precious grandchildren, whom he loved and was very proud of, Julia, Claire, Paul and Elise Lasgoity; Brennan, Jaclyn and Madeline Schnoor; Natalie, Lauren and Blair Fagundes. He is also survived by his siblings, Judy Merz, Donna, Lloyd, Ralph and Fred Fagundes and their families. His sister-in-law, Susan (Bill) Genasci and their family. James was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 48 years, Glenda Fagundes. In keeping with his Catholic faith, a Rosary will be held on Thursday, June 9th at Turlock Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. and burial will follow. His memorial mass will be held Friday, June 10th at 10:00a.m. St. Patrick’s Parish in Merced, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Merced Elks Club BPOE #1240, St. Patrick’s Parish in Merced, CA or St. Columba Catholic Church in Chowchilla, CA. Following his mass, a celebration of life will be held at Eastman Hall in Chowchilla, CA.
