Dolatrai Kalidas Naik, age 83, passed away at home on April 11, 2022 in Merced, California. He was born in Gujarat, India on January 7, 1939. He was raised in Kolva, Gujarat, India. He graduated from Gadat High School before moving to London to study abroad. Dolatrai married his wife, Indu Naik, on May 10, 1975 in London. While living in London, he worked in sales. He transitioned to owning a motel after moving to California. He retired in 2019. Dolatrai was a huge fan of WWE wrestling, and he loved swinging on his wooden living room swing. His pride and joy was owning the San Joaquin Motel in Merced for 37 year, where his customers adored him and lovingly referred to him as “Nick.” Dolatrai was preceded in death by his parents, Kalidas Lallubhai Naik and Vijya Naik; his sister, Madhu Naik; and his brothers, Jashvantrai Naik, Sumantrai Naik, and Balvantrai Naik. He is survived by his loving wife, Indu Naik; his daughter, Hetal Naik; his son, Dipesh Naik; his daughter-in-law, Akta Naik; and his grandson, Vihaan Naik. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, CA.
