Henry Soares Jr.

Henry Manuel Soares Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2022 in Turlock, California. Henry was born on August 12, 1938 in Merced, California to Henry and Mary Soares. He was raised in Hilmar, California and graduated from Hilmar High School. Henry married the love of his life, Vivian M. Soares, on September 2, 1961, in Hilmar. He served in the Army for 5 years before working 52 years as a Crop Consultant. He was a lifelong farmer, retiring in 2017. Henry loved to travel. He was a founding member of Fava Day, a fundraiser held every year on May 9th that is devoted to helping families of local children under the age of 18 fighting cancer. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Mary Soares; his sister, Loretta Fernandes; and his brother, Leroy Soares. Henry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Vivian M. Soares; his children, Ron, Randy, Duilinda (Randy), and Dana; his grandchildren, Bobby, Jennifer, Veronica, Erika, Trenton, Justin, Bryan, Micaela, Ahlyssa, Jada, and Dante; his 6 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., followed by a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, CA, 95380. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at North Hilmar Cemetery, 8710 Tegner Rd., Hilmar, CA 95324.
