Jackey D. Talley
July 25, 1955 - March 5, 2022
Jackey Dale Talley, age 66, returned to his heavenly home on March 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after an aggressive battle with MDS & AML. Jackey was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon on July 25, 1955. Jackey was previously a resident of Modesto & Sonora, California. He resided in Delhi, California where he lived for the past 34 years. Jackey was married to Robin Mary Anderson Talley, and they were planning to celebrate their 47th year anniversary in May. Jackey, a disabled veteran, retired from the U.S. Army where he served in Augsburg, Germany during the Vietnam era as a crew chief on medevac helicopters. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) for 40 years, a current member of Turlock Chapter 74, a former member of Modesto Chapter 26, and a founder of the Sonora Chapter. He deeply enjoyed serving in the D.A.V. and helping his fellow veterans. His titles and roles included Commander, Past Commander, Chaplin, Treasurer, and Judge Advocate. He had a lifelong passion for all things military, especially aviation. Jack was an outdoorsman; he loved fishing, hunting, boating, and camping. He was an avid book reader with a love for westerns, historical documentations, and presidential autobiographies. He loved tinkering with cars, including his 1943 Willys Jeep. Jack could often be found in his garage, being the neighborhood go-to-guy for all things mechanical and the sharing of his tools. While in the garage, he loved listening to classic rock and country music on his vinyl record player. He enjoyed capturing moments on his camera, which he often had ready in hand. Jack was blessed with the gift of gab, so no one ever felt like a stranger in his presence. He was a loving, dedicated, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He always cherished celebrating life’s special moment with the people around him. Jackey was preceded in death by his parents, Vina Marie Guthrie Morris and Roscoe Talley; stepfather, Wayne Morris; brother, Wayne Talley; sisters Mary Ashcraft and Gerladine Monk; and granddaughter, Xoe Talley.
