Jan Rapp

Jan Rapp passed away suddenly at Doctors medical center on June 24, 2010, at the age of 68. Jan was born in Sandback, Sweden, on July 31, 1941. As the son of a carpenter in Osterbymo he developed a strong connection to nature, craftsmanship and Swedish traditions. From the mid 70s to late 90s Jan lived in Akersberga, Sweden with his three children. As a beloved father he was always present but never ordinary. Jan married Deni Wiman in 1998 and became a resident of Modesto, CA at that time. He retired as a psychologist in Sweden and pursued his dream of becoming an artist, subsequently receiving many awards and accolades. Jan was a kind, joyful and loving man who always found the good in others and the beauty in his surroundings. His sense of humor and vivacious personality won him many friends along the way. He was a renaissance man who possessed varied interests and talents. He maintained a wonderful vegetable garden and enjoyed cooking up his own recipes. Also, he was an avid golf enthusiast, enjoying the challenge and the comraderie. He lived life to the fullest, inspiring family and friends to always be creative, curious and fearless. He will be missed by many. Jan is survived by his wife, Deni; sister, Kristina Ahlberg, Sweden; children with spouse, Mikaela Rapp and Thomas Hansson, Sweden, Jessica and Jorgen Lindstrom, Sweden, Christopher Rapp and Josefin Petersson, Sweden; grandchildren, Wilma and Anton, Emil and Alva, and baby Rapp on the way, Sweden; mother-in-law, Beverly Wiman, Modesto; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirleen and Mike Domitrovich, Modesto; nephews and nieces, Michael / Jeannette, Sweden, Joe and Steph, Montana, Sally, California. Preceded in death by parents, Erik and Marta Rapp, Sweden. A Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on July 1, 2010 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Road, Turlock.
