November 18, 1947 - August 16, 2021
On August 16, 2021, our sweet mother, Lana Beth Graves, surrounded by all five of her children and grandchildren, was called to Jesus. Our angel flew away at the age of 73. Lana was born in Turlock, California on November 18, 1947. Raised in Delhi by her parents, Earl and Mina Schell, she was the youngest of 8 children. The Schell's were a farming family mainly, however Lana's father, Earl, owned a local gas station as well. They attended Delhi Church of Christ, where on July 15, 1963, she married Jerry Hamilton. Lana later divorced Jerry and married Jackie Graves on December 21, 1968, whom she has been married to for 53 years. Lana raised five children, Sheri, Gary, LeeAnn, Deena and Tammy Jo. As you can imagine, it was a lot of work raising five children but it brought her so much joy. Also an ambitious women, Lana attended Valley Commercial College where she took business courses and graduated. She got a job at Medic Alert, which she enjoyed thoroughly. Lana later went on to work for Covenant Living Retirement Center, where she loved using her creativity by making beautiful fruit and floral arrangements. Lana had a great passion for gardening and great love for flowers. Most of all, Lana enjoyed being mother and a grandmother. She was always there to help take care of her children's new born babies and enjoyed having all her family over. Lana created a wonderful family filled with love for each other by setting the example of always being kind and tender towards others. There will forever be a place in our hearts where our mom will be missed dearly. Lana is survived by her husband, Jack Graves; her children, Sheri Yagi (Blaine), Gary Hamilton (Clarissa), LeeAnn Bettencourt (Richard), Deena Cuevas (George) and Tammy Weiglein (Kristian); her brother, Marvin Schell; and her 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. May we always remember her kindness, her laughter, and the love she extended towards others. Lana was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mina Schell, and her siblings, Imogene Graves, Rex Schell, Carl Schell, Ilaine Bradford, Jerry Schell and Mary Helen Schell. Please join us for a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock. A reception will follow at the home of Blaine and Sheri Yagi. Our mom loved flowers, so any floral arrangements would be greatly appreciated.
