Russell Jean Robinson
November 23, 1934 - May 19, 2021
Russell Jean Robinson, at the glorious age of 86 years, entered into eternal life with Christ on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. After months of failing health, Russell died peacefully within his home in Hughson, CA. He was surrounded by his four children, Randall Robinson, Sandie Robinson Maness, Melody Robinson and Melissa Robinson Ekkelboom, while resting in the arms of Eddie Robinson, his faithful wife of 65+ years. Russell cherished every moment spent visiting with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dad’s smile and laughter was the biggest when we were all together. Dad had the gift of making everyone feel welcomed and wanted. Russell was born on November 23, 1934 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. The second of six sons born to Ruby Mae and Herman Robinson, Russell was born during a time in America where your work ethic proved your character, and your word was your honor. Each day with Dad was an opportunity to have your motives challenged and your soul encouraged in the Lord’s unconditional love. Russell enlisted in the Army and served during the Korean War. He was a military police officer. He was so proud to serve his country and to provide protection for his comrades. Russell was employed by Stockton Plating his entire career until he retired. “Rutt” made sure everyone working with him and for him was producing their best work, all the while remaining safe. His desire to protect others was evident throughout his life. Russell let you know that he had your back, he believed in you, and he would never let you down. Due to years of welding, Dad’s hands may have been calloused and weathered, yet when he touched you – you knew you were of great value. Fifty-nine years ago, at the age of 27, Russell made a personal decision to accept Christ as his Lord and Savior. For the remainder of his life, he built churches here and in Honduras, helped create the concept of an Army of children for Christ called the Christian Path lighters, built yearly sets & props for church plays, was a member of many church boards, ushered, helped with Sunday School, and paid his tithes faithfully - which he paid literally the day prior to his passing. One of Dad’s favorite sayings was, “You can’t out give the Lord!” Pop, as he was affectionately referred to, also nurtured, loved, and encouraged his four children, eleven Grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, as well as a host of family and friends. Pop loved to tease us all; from the old crank phone out in Hilmar to his welding talents to build puzzles that would wrack your brain, he was always creating wonderful memories for all. Russell loved to rebuild Mustangs, grow gardens, pull children behind the tractor, make hand cranked homemade ice cream, play dominos with friends, and open his home and pool for many to be baptized in. His finest quality was his passion for God’s word, encouraging us all to develop a prayer life with God, to trust when it didn’t seem possible, and the unwavering conviction that without Christ, all in this life was of little value. Dad could always separate the sin from the sinner and made loving each other the focus of all relationships. Rutt was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Ray Robinson, Bill Robinson, & Tommy Robinson. Russell leaves behind two loyal brothers – LeRoy Robinson and Jimmy Robinson. The “Robinson Boys” cherished each other all the days of their lives. No one can recall “the boys” speaking harshly or disrespectful toward one another. Dad always wanted the love of Jesus to be evident in every aspect of his life – a goal he accomplished consistently.
