Cheryl Lee Scoggin was born on December 27, 1958. She transitioned from this life on May 20, 2014. She was born in Ceres, California to Robert and Emma Parshall. She has two daughters Christie Stevenson and Amanda McCown and two son-in-law's Jason Stevenson and Kyle McCown. Cheryl was also blessed with five grandchildren: Justin, Hannah, Rylee, Jayden, and Laney. Rylee affectionately called Cheryl Grandma Cereal because when she was little she couldn't say Cheryl. She also has five sisters: Brenda,Terry, Kelli, Roberta, and Carrie. Cheryl also has a brother-in-law, Henk Gaalswyk. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Emma Parshall, her sister Kelli Parshall, and her niece Ashley Davenport. Cheryl grew up in Modesto California and attended Modesto High School. When you think of Cheryl the first thing that comes to mind is the love she had for her family. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, sisters, and nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends. These times that she spent with her family and friends brought her the utmost joy. Cheryl was a protector to all she knew and loved. The word stranger was never in her vocabulary. She gave love to anyone that needed it. Some of Cheryl's favorite pastimes were bingo, playing games on Facebook, eating, getting manicures and pedicures, getting her hair done because she loved her long locks, buying gifts for those She loved, laughing, and shopping ... especially to buy shoes and they had to be high heels of course. If you had to describe Cheryl these words instantly come to mind: giving, funny, onery, protective, loving, not afraid to speak her mind, and strong. She was a 14 year cancer survivor. It just goes to show what a tough cookie Cheryl was. One of her greatest accomplishments was the work that she did at the Salvation Army. When She lived in the facility she woke up at 5 AM every morning to feed the homeless. Anyone that knows Cheryl knows how much she loved to sleep so this is a feat in itself. It gave her so much pride and joy to do this. She also took on a mentor and mom role to a lot of people in the program. She was loved and respected by many. Cheryl's greatest joy in life was her kids and her grandkids. The look of love and pride on her face was evident whenever she saw them or spoke of them. Participating in the recent weddings of both of her daughters was a dream come true for Cheryl. Never in our lives has our family seen her so happy. Today we are not saying goodbye to Cheryl, we are saying until we meet again. She was very loved and she will never be forgotten. Death cannot steal out memories and it cannot still our love. Rest in peace Cheryl. We all love you. Viewing will begin at 11:00am followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 24 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd. in Turlock. Interment will be private and at a later date.
