Irving & Janice Dahlin

Irving Edward Dahlin: Eulogy Irving Edward Dahlin was born on the family farm in Norquay, Saskatchewan on February 2nd, 1935, to his parents Edward and Esther. He attended North Willow Grove High School and then attended college at North Park University in Chicago, Illinois, where he met and courted Janice Price. They were married on September 5, 1958, in Hilmar, California. After living in Norquay together for a year, Irv and Jan moved to Castro Valley, California. Their son, Brent Edward Dahlin, was born on June 10, 1961. Irv was the Branch Manager of a bank in the residential loan department for 25 years, which he always spoke of as his favorite job. This position ended because of the savings and loan crisis in the late 1980’s, at which point Irv purchased a Stride Rite, a children’s shoe store, and was self-employed for over 10 years. During this time, Irv and his family lived in Fremont, California and attended Evangelical Free Church. Irv later attended the University of Phoenix and completed his degree in Business Administration. He became a United States Citizen around the same time. Irv retired in 1996 and moved to a beautiful home facing the golf course in Sun City Roseville. He took up golf as his 9-5, often playing a round of 18 holes multiple times a week. He was also a part of a cycling club and an active member of Pleasant Grove Community Church including serving on the Elder Board, singing in the church choir and quartet, as well as serving on the Men’s Ministry Team. Most Tuesday mornings for over 20 years he would pick up and take senior men to breakfast for a few hours. Irv and Jan travelled regularly and saw many parts of the world. They loved to attend neighborhood events and had a close group of friends throughout their time in Sun City, as well as maintained many close friendships from their time in the Bay Area and beyond. Irv was a very present father and grandfather, often having the grandkids come to stay for the weekend and keeping them busy the entire time. Irv loved to read, watch golf, and be with his family and friends. Irv was incredibly kind and generous with his time and spirit. He was patient, steadfast and was married to Jan for 67 years. He loved the Lord deeply for all his life. He died on March 24, 2026, in a hospice care facility in Modesto, California after being extremely well cared for by his amazing team, for over a year. He was survived by his wife (Janice) for only four weeks. He will be very missed by his daughter in law, (Lisa) three grandchildren, (Meghan, Kelsey (Zach), and Jordan (Taylor) soon to be five great-grandchildren, (Sadie, Bethany, Easton, Caleb, and a baby girl due in September 2026,) and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, sister, (Joyce) brothers (Harold, Gordon, and Stan), as well as his son (Brent.) __________________________________________________________________________________ Janice Annette Price-Dahlin: Eulogy Janice Annette Price was born on June 10, 1939, in Big Springs, Kansas to her parents John and Elsie Price. Jan was the last of seven children. Jan and her family moved to Hilmar, California in 1946 where she lived until attending college at North Park University in Chicago, Illinois. She met and was courted by Irving Dahlin until they were married on September 5, 1958. Jan and Irv lived together in Norquay for a year and then moved to Castro Valley, California. Their son, Brent Edward Dahlin, was born on June 10, 1961. Jan worked at Fairchild Test Systems for almost twenty years starting in the early 1970’s. She began as a personnel administrator and worked her way up in the Human Resources Department. She transitioned to Equatorial Communications in Mountain View, California in the early 1990’s and worked as the Director of Human Resources for 10 years. Alongside her vast professional responsibilities, she also served on the Board of Directors for Goodwill in Santa Clara. Her accomplishments and advancements were many throughout her career. During this time, Jan and her family lived in Fremont, California and attended Evangelical Free Church at which she was an active member and sang in the choir. While Jan and Irv sold their home in Fremont, California in 1996, Jan continued to work for 4 more years until she retired in 2000. She commuted from the Bay Area where she lived with her niece Jeanette to spend the weekends with Irv in Sun City Roseville. In retirement Jan was an active member at Pleasant Grove Community Church, including serving in the church choir and often as a soloist. She also continued to use her vast business and HR experience as she served on committees at the church, helping to interview and select multiple pastoral candidates. She participated in many ladies’ groups playing Canasta and other games, while also developing and maintaining a close group of friends in her community as well as those from the Bay Area and beyond. She loved to host meals and gatherings for friends and family whenever she could. Jan travelled frequently in her career and continued to do so with Irv throughout their retirement and to many parts of the world. Jan always prioritized time with her son and his family, often making special time with her grandchildren and having them come to stay for the weekend, as well as planning many family trips together. Jan was self-motivated, driven, self-assured, and incredibly hard-working throughout her life with the goal of ensuring her family had all that they needed. She was proudest in her roles of Mom/Grandy/Gigi. She was married to Irv for 67 years until his passing 4 weeks prior to her own on April 21, 2026, in Modesto, California after suffering a third stroke. Jan will be forever missed by her daughter in law, (Lisa) three grandchildren, (Meghan, Kelsey (Zach), and Jordan (Taylor) soon to be five great-grandchildren, (Sadie, Bethany, Easton, Caleb, and a baby girl due in September 2026,) many nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, six siblings (Johnny, Ralph, George, Fanny, Louise, and Irene,) husband (Irving,) and her son (Brent.)
