Michael Ben Noda, 71, passed away suddenly on February 17, 2021, from a heart attack at his Swim Club in Chico. He was born in Turlock, CA. Mike attended and transferred from Hartnell Junior College to California State University at Chico, CA, where he graduated with a BS in Sociology. There he met his wife of 37 years, Gay. Mike belonged to the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity while at Chico. Utilizing his degree, he was first employed as a social worker with Yuba County, then rising through the ranks to become the Director of Yuba County's Social Services. He also served as the Deputy Director of Yolo County's Social Services, as well as Siskiyou County. He founded Community Service Solutions, a non-profit agency, contracting with three small CA counties to serve their In Home Social Services clients. He was a lifelong swimmer, having been competitive in high school and junior college. It was his favorite way to relax and de-stress after a day working. Mike truly loved the water and was amazing to watch! He was a Dad that would cheer his daughters on in whatever their endeavors were. He loved especially to cheer daughter, Tori, on in her basketball and baseball games, Hana, in her track meets, and Mari, in her music. He was a man of deep faith, serving the church in teaching Sunday School and on Deacon Boards. He is preceded in death by his father, Ben Noda, his maternal and paternal grandparents, as well as several aunts, uncles, and a cousin. Michael is survived by his 100 year old mother, Ruth, of Walnut Creek, CA; his wife of 10 years, Anne of Corning, CA; his older brother, Rodney and wife Nancy; and nephew, Akio; as well as his younger sister, Barbara and her partner Mimi of Bellingham, WA. Also surviving Michael are numerous cousins and their families. Michael leaves behind his beloved daughters, Hana (Tom), Tori, and Mari (Chris) with his two precious grandchildren, Dominic and Matilda. He also leaves behind dearest friend, Gay. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock. Following the memorial service, Michael will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock.
