Motilal "Moe" Harakh

Motilal “Moe” Harakh passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 18, 2025, in Modesto, California. He was born on May 9, 1959, in Fiji and and then migrated to the United States with his family at the young age of seven. The Harakh family settled in Modesto, Ca where Moe would spend the rest of his adult life. Moe attended Chrysler Elementary, Prescott Jr. High, and graduated from Beyer High School. He briefly studied X-ray technology at Modesto Junior College before beginning a long career as a line and packaging technician at Louis Rich and later to Frito-Lay, where he retired from in 2002. In 2008, after his mother suffered a stroke, Moe selflessly stepped in to help his two sisters care for her. His quiet devotion and selflessness during this time while he was managing his own health conditions, spoke volumes about the depth of his character and his humble nature. Moe had a passion for cars. His cousin Hem and him made some type of deal where Moe ended up with Hem’s black corvette. He loved that car- and it was quite a coincidence that the license plate cover read, “Life’s a party, meet the host!” It was a lighthearted phrase that perfectly reflected his vibrant, fun-loving personality. Moe was also enjoyed the company of his family and friends. The special bond and relationships he shared with each of them brought him great joy over the years and til his last breath. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ram and Raj Harakh. He is survived by his children: Priscilla (& son in law-Edwin) Singh, Christopher Harakh, and Nickolaus Lal Harakh; his beloved only granddaughter, Gianna Singh, and his five siblings: Manilal, Maya, Lyle, Shuilal, and Prahba. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will lovingly remember him. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Turlock Funeral Home. Following the service, the family will observe a 13-day Hindu prayer tradition, completing the customary rituals and prayers to honor Moe and support his soul’s journey toward reincarnation and a new beginning.
